KIIAC LLC
kiiac was formed in February 2008 with the goal of developing advanced legal software to assist lawyers in fully realizing the benefits of information technology. The name stands for Knowledge Information Innovation and Consulting.
Kingsley Martin
Kingsley combines many years of experience in legal practice, information technology management, strategy and software development.
Legal Practice: Kingsley practiced law in the United Kingdom and United States, specializing in tax and estate planning.
Management and Strategy: Kingsley has held information technology strategy and senior management positions at three AmLaw 100 law firms and Thomson-Reuters.
Technology Development and Innovation: Kingsley is one of the design architects of Thomson-Reuters' leading knowledge management product, West km and developed the Vetting Toolkit. He has written numerous applications for law firms, including document assembly, knowledge management, client management and numerous intranet applications.
Kingsley holds law degrees from Oxford University and Harvard Law School.
TRACE LIGGETT
Trace has many years of experience in legal industry technologies and product development, business development, and information technology management and development with a focus on automated text recognition, data mining, and organization of large quantities and varieties of legal documents.
Management and Strategy: Trace has held numerous management and strategy positions in the field of legal publishing, focusing on information products serving the legal industry, and leading large scale, multi-disciplinary software development projects.
Technology Development and Innovation: Prior to founding KIIAC, Trace worked at Thomson-Reuters in its West Publishing division as a manager and engineer in new product development where he was a lead architect and product manager for a number of West's leading technology innovations including KeyCite, West km and BriefTools.
Trace is a graduate of the University of Kansas and holds a Computer Science degree with a minor in Business Management.
JASON DIRKX
Jason brings a legal education that includes work with innovative legal technologies and experience in software engineering and software development process.
Technology Development and Innovation: PJason has experience as a software
engineer, including contract management, accounting, process improvement and learning management
tools. During this time, Jason led several initiatives integrating new technologies and products
into legacy systems. Jason also has experience with formal software development process including
working under a SEI CMMI Level 5 project and piloting a CMMI Level 3 process improvement initiative.
While in law school, Jason assisted the Center for Access to Justice and Technology in developing a
clinical course focused on creating automated web-based interviews to assist low-income pro se litigants.
Jason graduated magna cum laude from Chicago-Kent College of Law and holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Michigan State University.
STEVEN NYQUIST
Steven Nyquist recently retired as an equity partner with Dorsey & Whitney LLP, specializing in various financing structures, including: derivative contracts for financial, commodity and equity assets; structured finance and securitization; repurchase agreements; securities lending arrangements; mergers and acquisition financing; and equipment finance leasing. Steven was co-chair of the securitization practice group and was co-chair of the opinion committee at Dorsey & Whitney, LLP. During his legal career, Steven's presentations to the legal community included: legal opinion practice; the Uniform Commercial Code related to security interests and the transfer of equity securities; derivatives practice and risk mitigation; commercial paper structures; and negotiating ethics.
Steven has a bachelor of science in education, literature and journalism and a law degree, each from the University of Minnesota.
